UCLA Disability Alumni Network to support the Disabled Student Union Commencement Ceremony

The Disabled Student Union is hosting our first annual Disabled Student Union Graduation ceremony in person and on Zoom at the James West Alumni Center in the Collins Conference Room and Patio on Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, PST.

The ceremony will consist of recognition of any graduates from UCLA who identify as disabled, remarks by a keynote speaker, alumni, and graduating students. Please tag us on Instagram @dsuucla!

Location: James West Alumni Center, Collins Conference Room + Patio, and Zoom

Date & Time: June 16th, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Call Time for Graduates: 10:00 AM

Accessibility: Mask guidance, air purifiers, wheelchair accessible, ASL services, Captioning services, no stair climbing needed. Please email dsuucla@gmail.com with more questions.

Guidance: The Disabled Student Union is committed to holding safer and more accessible events, and practicing intersectional disability justice. For the safety and accessibility of this event, high quality masks (N95, KN95, KF94) are STRONGLY preferred and will be provided at the event for all. Do not attend the event in person if you are feeling symptomatic or ill, if you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two weeks, or if you’ve had a close contact exposure to COVID-19. We also recommend taking a COVID-19 test before the event: UCLA still offers free PCR testing and also offers rapid testing (not free), and details can be found here: https://covid-19.ucla.edu/covid-testing/. The Los Angeles Public Libraries also offer free rapid tests; call ahead per location to make sure they have some in stock.

Please refrain from wearing scented products such as perfume, cologne, and fragrant personal care products while in the space.

Graduation Memorabilia:
Graduates participating in the ceremony will be presented memorabilia (to be determined) and certificate on the day of the event. More information will be shared with participating graduates as the date approaches. If you have an conflicting commencement ceremony or other graduation commitment during Disabled Student Union Graduation, we encourage you to register so that you can be recognized in our program booklet. All registered Disabled Student Union Graduates will receive memorabilia regardless of whether they can attend the day-of ceremony.
