Louis Kwong earned his M.D. with an outstanding record of service to UCLA and the community. Kwong, who received the UCLA Alumni Association’s Outstanding Senior Award in 1980, has continued his broad involvements in the heath sciences and the campus.

Committed to the mission of the UCLA School of Medicine, Kwong was the sole student chosen to sit on the Committee for the Executive Review of the School of Medicine, where he helped evaluate academic plans. He has been president of his medical school class and editor of the MEDUCLA yearbook.

Maintaining a strong relationship with the ASUCLA Graduate Students Association, Kwong has been their representative to the Student Health Advisory Committee, the John Wooden Center Board of Governors and the Student Welfare Committee.

Kwong has been the single delegate representing the state-wide medical student body on the California Medical Association's committee on the quality of patient care. He will serve his residency in orthopedic surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
